A trekking expedition through the mountains and hills is perhaps the best way to get an authentic insight into the great cultures that still have been maintained for centuries.

Welcome to the atmospheric city of Luang Prabang. Welcome on arrival and transfer to the hotel for check in. In the afternoon, start your city tour to discover the architectural and historical sites. Your first stop is the former Royal Palace where the great selection of artifacts still remains from the ancient time. Make your way to the top of Phousi Mountain for a stunning view over the town at sunset.
Take a leisurely walk along the peninsula of the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers to delve into the laid back atmosphere and the lifestyle of the locals.
Head back to the hotel for some time to relax before enjoying your night out in LuangPrabang. In the early evening, you will be taken to the Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre to enjoy some appetizers and cocktails. The museum is home to the diversity of ethnic minorities in Laos with a great exhibition of traditional costumes, utensils and artifacts. It is a great place to get a glimpse of Lao people.
You will have dinner at the best restaurant in Lao – Tamarind with the different choices of local dishes. After dinner, take a leisurely stroll through the night market where you can find variety of local souvenirs and handicrafts. Overnight at the hotel in Luang Prabang.

After a hearty breakfast, head north of the town to the small Khmu village of Ban Huay Lo where your trekking adventure begins. The trekking route takes you through rice paddies, lush forest and beautiful waterfalls. Along the way, stop at the small village of Hmong people – Pha Phuang for lunch at a local house.
After lunch, continue trekking uphill to the top of the mountain dotted with Khmu and Hmong villages. Stop at a local family at Ban Mok Chong for an overnight homestay and explore their unique culture.

After a simple breakfast at the local house, there are two options for you to take a trek either on classic route or on more challenging route.
Option 1: Ban Mok Chong - Ban Nasavang - HuayVang - LuangPrabang
Your trek today will venture further into the forest-lined mountains in the west of the Nam Ou valley. You will trek through remote and beautiful bamboo forest and impressive scenery. Stop for lunch at the Khmu village of Ban Nasavang.
After lunch, trek along the local Khmu trail with a stop at charming waterfalls to freshen up. Continue your trek to Ban Huay village where you meet your vehicle for a transfer back to your hotel in town.
Option 2: Ban Mok Chong - Ban Nasavang - Ban Mok Muang – Ban Houy Louang - Luang Prabang
In the first section of your adventure, you will trek up in the mountain to get the panoramic views of the surroundings. Afterwards, venture further into the jungle for around 3 hours before stopping off at a Hmong village for a local lunch.
After lunch, continue your trek through the lush jungle for another hour before approaching the rice fields and the beautiful scenery of the river. Continue two more hour trekking to reach Khmu village of Ban Houy Louang. Take your time to relax with a swim or cool your feet in the river and then head back to Luang Prabang.
There is some time to relax before taking the special opportunity to observe the traditional ceremony of Lao – the Baci. This ritual is the mix of Animist and Buddhist beliefs with the aim to call escaped spirits back to the body. This is believed to be an important and necessary ritual before major events including weddings, births, travel, welcoming friends and farewells. In the last night in Luang Prabang, you will dine at the beautiful Tangor restaurant with the selection of Lao and French – styled cuisine.

You are recommended to wake up early this morning to take part in the traditional ceremony of alms giving taking place from the break of dawn. During the ceremony, devoted locals will stand on the sidewalk and there are bearing food in their arm. When a procession of monks wearing orange robes passes, the locals will offer the foods to them. After breakfast, you are free to relax or explore the town on your own before being transferred to the airport for your departure flight. End of the tour!
